SFOC Preparation Short Course

This course is designed to help you apply for the Special Flight Operations Certificate (SFOC) required by Transport Canada to get permission for special drone flight operations. It is up to date with current Transport Canada newly released regulations.

For newcomers to the Drone industry in Canada, we recommend you start with our Basic course and should you like to continue to your Advanced certificate The Canadian Drone Institute will credit you 100% of the Basic course cost towards your Advanced commercial Drone certificate.

The Canadian Drone Institute offers corporate webinars, on-site training and online self-study Drone training courses to help pass the Advanced and Basic Drone pilot exams and your Advanced Flight review for Transport Canada.

The Advanced and the Basic curriculum courses has been written by our Team of retired Transport Canada Airline Transport Pilots (ATP) and Transport Canada retired Flight Instructors. Our curriculum is very extensive and is presented in a series of PDFs and quizzes that are up to date with the new Transport Canada 2019 Canadian Aviation Regulations or CARs. Our courses follow the Transport Canada study curriculum the TP15263.

Both courses will help prepare you to pass your Basic and Advanced exams through the Transport Canada Drone Safety Portal. The Canadian Drone Institute is listed on the Transport Canada website as a compliant training school for Advanced and Basic Drone pilot certification exam preparation. Non-Canadian Residents

Transport Canada holds certain nationality requirements to own, operate, and certify as a Drone pilot in Canada. If you are not a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident, please contact your Transport Canada Regional Office to discuss the nationality requirements in more detail.

Once you have contacted your Transport Canada official, you may enroll in our Advanced course. You will receive your Graduation certificate for submission with your SFOC (Special Flight Operations Certificate).

The Canadian Drone Institute offers the online Basic self study Drone training course to help you pass the Transport Canada exam.

The Basic curriculum has been written by our Team of Transport Canada retired Airline Transport Pilots (ATP) and our Transport Canada retired Flight Instructors.

Advanced Flight Certificate & Flight Review

Are you ready to get your Advanced drone pilot certificate from Transport Canada?

The Transport Canada Advanced exam currently has over 1,500 questions in their database. “Transport Canada is going to have 2,500 questions by the end of 2020,” according to a Transport Canada official in Ottawa.

The questions on the Transport Canada Advanced Drone pilot exam have been randomly selected from the Transport Canada Commercial pilots course per Transport Canada Ottawa.

The exams require us to learn how manned aviation operates and the rules they operate under when in controlled airspace. We hope this makes sense that your curriculum should be written by Transport Canada licensed ATP (airline transport pilots) and Transport Canada Flight instructors who have experience flying in Canadian and International Controlled airspace.

The Canadian Drone Institute can help you or your company obtain your Transport Canada Advanced Drone pilot certificate and if required, your Special Flight Operations Certificate for BVLOS.

The Advanced Drone Pilot Certificate From Transport Canada Consists of Three Steps

1. Register your Drone or RPAS with Transport Canada

2. Pass the Advanced drone pilot exam with a mark of 80%.

3. Pass your flight review with a Transport Canada Flight Evaluator

Please note that you will need to devote a minimum of 30 hours study time to successfully pass the Transport Canada Advanced exam.
